Amer Fort
Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, is a magnificent hilltop fortress located in Amer, Jaipur, Rajasthan, about 11 kilometers from Jaipur city. Built primarily in the late 16th century by Raja Man Singh I, a trusted general of Mughal Emperor Akbar, it served as the royal residence and stronghold of the Kachwaha Rajputs.
Historical Significance
The fort was originally constructed as a defensive palace on the remnants of an older fort, with subsequent expansions and renovations made by Raja Jai Singh I and later rulers. It was the main seat of power for the Rajput rulers of Amer until the capital was moved to Jaipur in the 18th century.
Amer Fort historically played a vital role in the region's military and political affairs, witnessed through battles, such as the annexation by Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah I, and prominently symbolizing Rajput valor and culture.

Architecture and Design
The fort showcases an exquisite blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture, built with red sandstone and white marble. Its huge ramparts, steep cobbled paths, and strategically placed gates like Suraj Pol (Sun Gate) highlight its defensive qualities.
The fort complex is organized over four large courtyards featuring prominent structures such as Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), Sukh Niwas with its cooling water cascade, and Jai Mandir. Intricate mirror work, frescoes, ornate balconies (jharokhas), and ornate gates like Ganesh Pol adorn the fort interiors.
Amer Fort overlooks the Maota Lake, which served as both a defensive embankment and a scenic backdrop reflecting the grandeur of the fort.
